Wasserman brings home Port, opens a new account with Vancity, and then goes out for a beer

It’s been a busy time here on the new biz front as the agency brought its very particular way of looking at the world to bear on three important accounts.

First up, our longstanding relationship with the port city in which we live, had to respond to a very significant evolution. With the merger of Vancouver Port Authority, Fraser River Port Authority, and North Fraser Port Authority into Port Metro Vancouver, it was time for both parties to reflect on possible futures. The agency had successfully rebranded the post into Port Metro Vancouver with a new identity and brand elements that are nothing short of remarkable. You’ll find them elsewhere on our site and if you disagree or agree we’d like to hear from you. With an international, national and local market in both business to business, business to consumer and equally important port to community, we felt we would be the right agency to take the brand further. After an extensive review against some of the top other agencies in the market, Port Metro Vancouver agreed. We’re thrilled.

Also in the long review vein Vancity was approaching the end of a contracted period with its agency and decided to broaden their search. Having made significant and in some cases research record breaking progress in promoting the entire BC Credit Union system (BC Central Credit Unions now Central One) we knew the territory and felt we could add a dimension to the Vancity organization.

In a search process that emphasized DNA fit, where meeting with key people with their agency and Vancity counterparts took precedence over the usual presentation-takes-all approach one thing became clear. The two organizations were an extraordinary match. We were given the business in a unanimous two-committee vote.

To celebrate we went out and looked for a beer. In fact we had just previously been fortunate enough to be picked as the new agency of record for Granville Island Brewery. A different review process pit us against some larger and some smaller agencies. We’re not sure if we were the thirstiest having never had a beer account or if the fit was just perfect a la goldilocks but we’re thrilled with the result. The first of our small batch, hand-made, very very localized campaigns will be launched shortly. Check back to this website for details.
